How to Reduce Shopify Returns With a Product Recommendation Quiz
Product recommendation quizzes can reduce returns by helping shoppers choose products that fit their needs before checkout.
Returns often start before checkout
Many returns happen because the shopper chose the wrong size, formula, variant, gift, routine, or product type. A quiz helps prevent that by asking the decision-making questions before the purchase.
When the recommendation matches the shopper’s answers, the customer has more confidence and a clearer reason to buy.
Use quiz questions to qualify the shopper
For apparel, ask about fit and style. For skincare, ask about skin type and goals. For supplements, ask about lifestyle and preferences. For gifts, ask about recipient, occasion, and budget.
The goal is not to ask everything. The goal is to ask the few questions that prevent the most common wrong purchases.
Turn recommendations into trust
A product recommendation should explain why the product was selected. Add short result copy, show matched products clearly, and make the next step obvious.
